Museums, theatres and youth centres alike want to offer cultural experiences for young people. The young are in demand as a target group, but is their own voice heard? It seems that the young are often offered activities, but hardly ever given a chance to take part in organising it. This publication is written to encourage discussion about the need for engaging young people. The case studies examine the aims and effects of young people’s cultural participation, not only for the young themselves, but also for the cultural institutions and the general audience.
